Shiver Home is a kinetic “animal-like” construction that strikes and adapts in response to surrounding pure forces. This cabin is an exploration into the concept that Structure can be utilized as a way to create a better emotional hyperlink between its inhabitants and the pure world it sits inside. As well as, the challenge explores the concept that Structure could be made to appear “alive” with the intention that this can engender a deeper and longer-lasting emotional relationship between individuals and the constructions we inhabit.
Shiver Home makes use of 1100 kinetic polycarbonate counter-weighted shingles which rotate up or down when the wind, rain, or snow hits them. The ever-changing nature of the exterior atmosphere signifies that the construction is in a continuing state of transformation. This changeability encourages the viewer to spend a protracted time frame with the cabin and subsequently in nature.
When observing this construction, the viewer is reminded of the invisible forces that encompass them and is linked to not simply the Shiver Home but additionally the broader panorama. Watching this construction firmly grounds the viewer within the current second and subsequently helps to scale back any nervousness they could be feeling.
When contained in the construction, the viewer can observe the atmosphere by way of its façade as they watch the kinetic shingles modulate the interior mild ranges and views out to the encompassing panorama.
Shiver Home V2 builds on the success of earlier iterations of the challenge put in in Finland. This model is designed for longer-term use and can sit inside the park of the louver-lens for plenty of years.
